This iOS application was created to help users plan their next hiking adventure. Trails are searchable by location and users are able to see and filter results by weather, sunrise/sunset time, length, elevation, and difficulty. Based on the specifics of the trail, the app gives the user a list of gear they might need and gives them the opportunity to purchase what they are missing. It’s a user-centered design that focuses on giving the users value rather than simply selling something.
I was the lead designer for this project. I developed a strategy centered around a seamless integration of multiple elements on the screen. Information is clear and easy to read and simple data visualization helps users quickly digest the details of each trail. Suggested gear is integrated into the same information-focused design and provides an easy path to purchase.

Getting healthy doesn’t have to be a chore. The Joint.ly app engages users in personal health by making it easy to set goals and giving them the support and incentives they need to reach those goals. Daily tasks are rewarded with valuable coupons which can be redeemed or gifted to someone else. Users are able to connect friends and family to build community support so users can encourage each other virtually or in-person.
As the lead designer, I outlined simple design patterns that would appeal to a wide-range of users and support the core information architecture. The interactions and color-palette were designed to be intrinsically rewarding and reinforce frequent visits. Developing a sticky design strategy was critical to reinforce the concept and keep users engaged and working toward better health.
